De’Jiohn “D.J.” Brooks, 23
Jose Perez, 22
D.J. was first arrested and jailed at 16. He found his passion for mentoring youth as a teen athletic coach for the Sanneh Foundation. D.J. is Executive Director and young men’s group leader at the St. Paul nonprofit World Youth Connect, a leader with the Council for Black Male Success and one of four Bridgemakers Social Impact Fellows.
Jose has firsthand experience with the juvenile justice system. Jose is also a proud graduate of the High School for Recording Arts in St. Paul and is prime example of the impact of students having access to non-traditional school models. Jose is the youngest appointed official to the City of St. Paul City Council (Reparations Legislative Advisory Committee) and is a youth executive and board member for Bridgemakers.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Youth Leaders (ages 11-14)
A willingness to share personal story
A willingness to share ideas and work with others
Interested in making schools serve the needs of youth
Ready to make community change
Experience with and/or involved with juvenile justice system (preferred, not required)

Public Town Hall: Tuesday, September 27th
